Where Solaria went, and who holds the warranty now
The corporate trail here is genuinely confusing, and getting it wrong sends owners to the wrong company. The short version:
- Late 2022, Complete Solar merged with Solaria to form Complete Solaria.
- September 2023, Complete Solaria sold its shingled-cell panel patents and dealer sales channel to Maxeon. Maxeon bought the technology, not the warranty obligation.
- 2024–2025, Complete Solaria acquired SunPower’s assets out of bankruptcy and renamed itself SunPower Inc.
- June 2025. Solaria.com states that SunPower Inc. is directly administering Solaria warranty services worldwide.

SunPower Inc., on 877-344-6637 or through us.sunpower.com. Solaria’s own site is explicit about two dead ends: Maxeon does not handle Solaria warranties, and an unrelated overseas licensee trading as “TCL SunPower Global” provides no support for Solaria products. If you are directed to either, you are in the wrong place.
PowerXT panels carried a 30-year product, power and labour warranty from March 2022. That is a long obligation that has now passed through three corporate structures, so your original purchase and installation paperwork is the thing that makes a claim work.
What PowerXT was good at, and why it suited this region
The PowerXT used shingled cells, overlapping strips rather than conventional cells with visible busbars between them. That produced the clean all-black look people bought them for, but it also had a practical consequence that matters on a Pacific Northwest roof.
Shingled construction divides the panel into more parallel electrical segments than a conventional layout, which means partial shade across part of a panel tends to cost less output than it would on a standard module. In a region where the limiting factor on most roofs is a neighbour’s Douglas fir rather than the weather, that was a real advantage, not a marketing line.
What to watch on an ageing PowerXT array here
- Tree growth. The shade tolerance that made these panels attractive can mask a worsening shading problem for years, until it does not. Compare the same month year over year rather than month to month.
- Moss on low-pitch roofs. All-black panels on a shallow pitch under conifers collect debris at the lower frame edge, and moss follows the debris.
- Wildfire smoke. A weak August across the region is a smoke season, not a fault.
- Documentation. On a 30-year warranty that has changed hands three times, your own records are the strongest evidence you have.
If you are replacing or expanding
Identical replacement is not available. Of the panels we recommend now, REC uses heterojunction cells with the flattest temperature coefficient of the three, Q CELLS is n-type TOPCon assembled in Georgia, and Silfab assembles modules in Burlington, Washington. Any of them is a sound match for a PNW roof; the right one depends on your roof area, shading and budget.

Does Maxeon cover my Solaria panels?
No. Maxeon acquired Solaria’s shingled-cell patents and sales channel in 2023 but did not take on the warranty obligation. Solaria’s own site states this explicitly.

Can a failed PowerXT panel be replaced like for like?
No, the line is discontinued, so a comparable current panel is the normal outcome. On systems with microinverters or optimisers that is straightforward; on an older string inverter it needs checking first.
My all-black panels look dirty at the bottom edge. Does that matter?
It can. Debris collecting at the lower frame on a low-pitch roof is where moss starts in this climate, and moss that creeps onto the glass does cost output. It is worth dealing with before it spreads.
