A Solar Electric Company’s Story

We at Sunbridge Solar are a globally-minded solar electric company based out of the Portland-Vancouver area. Our main emphasis is on designing and installing superior quality solar electric panels for both residential and commercial settings in the Pacific Northwest. While we pride ourselves highly on our second-to-none installations here in Oregon and Washington, our goal for meaningful local and global impact is much broader than our bottom line.

The name itself suggests the meaning we wish to convey: We’re building solar bridges in the communities in which we live and thrive. Whether that bridge is an easier and more environmentally conscious way to get power to a home here in the Northwest or to help bring a hospital in rural Nepal into the 21st century so they can better help the more than 30,000 people that walk through their doors, Sunbridge Solar will be ready to help. The name Sunbridge Solar helps keep our mission of bringing ecologically and monetarily affordable energy to people, in both big ways and small, in mind every day.

So whether you are a homeowner looking to do something to cut your electric bill costs, a farm trying to embrace sustainability, a business looking to make a sound financial investment, or a humanitarian with a heart for changing the environment, we are here to guide you through the process.

A Solar Electric Company Story

Meet the team

We strive for continual improvement in our technical know-hows and in ourselves.

Jordan Weisman

Jordan Weisman

Owner // Commercial Estimator

Jordan’s exposure to the world of solar electric started when he interned at Solar Energy International (SEI). His passion and excitement for solar energy began while he was working hands-on during one of SEI’s workshops to provide off-grid power for a farmer in Costa Rica. After spending four years as a lead installer, electrical apprentice, and solar designer, Jordan decided the time was right to found his own business in the Portland Metro.

Jordan is a NABCEP certified installer and also holds a NABCEP Technical Sales certificate. Jordan is also a licensed LRT (Licensed Renewable Technician) in the state of Oregon and a Tax Credit Certified Technician (TCCT), and sits on the board of the Oregon Solar Energy Industries Association (OSEIA).

Jordan’s passion for solar energy and international development continue as Sunbridge Solar develops local and international solar humanitarian projects every year. He lives in North Portland with his wife and daughter, and in his free time enjoys hiking, camping, cooking, tennis, and traveling.

Mike Muchmore

Mike Muchmore

Senior Estimator

Born in Vancouver, WA and raised in SW Portland, Mike started working in the energy conservation field in 1979 and has helped countless homeowners save thousands and thousands of dollars over the last 35 years. Mike has experience selling and installing insulation, windows, heating, and air conditioning, and now for the last 14 years, custom designing solar systems for homeowners from San Diego to Battle Ground and beyond.

“I love to see the homeowners expression when we first turn on their solar system and they watch the power go from their house into the grid. It is a great feeling to help people become more energy independent.”

Mike’s favorite sport is baseball and he loves to golf and cook. He has been married for 42 years to his sweetheart Cathy whom he met in downtown Portland.

Matt Battjes

Matt Battjes

Installer

Matt is the installation crew leader of the Sunbridge Solar team. He has been in the industry since 2007 when he helped install 12V off grid systems that powered the communications in the High Sierra.  He first became interested in solar electric when he was in grade school, and saw a photo of solar panels.  Before moving to Portland full time in 2008, he spent 5 years in Yosemite National Park, working, rock climbing, and mountaineering.

He has a love for being on top of mountain peaks and ridges, as well as rooftops.  Matt has NABCEP Photovoltaic EL and Solar Thermal EL certifications with more to come.  In his spare time, Matt enjoys everything out of doors: camping, backpacking, telemark skiing, snowboarding, cycling, and is an avid fly-fisherman who enjoys tying his own flies.

Travis Clowe

Travis Clowe

Installer

Travis has over 10 years’ experience in various fields of construction including solar hot water, solar PV, and solar pool fabrications and installations. He is a graduate of Mt. Hood Community College. He is currently enrolled as an LRT apprentice. He decided to commit to the solar energy industry in Portland because “I want to be able to work for a company that gives back to the local community and not just simply taking the profits for ourselves.”

When not working on your roof, you can find Travis slamming the drums with his band (PUSHY) or spending quality family time with his family.

Matt Brooks

Matt Brooks

Installer

Matt first got started in solar electric down in the mature, Californian solar market. There he picked up techniques that are only yet to be proven effective in our younger, less-matured Oregon solar market. He is currently taking continual education to become a Licensed Journeyman in Washington state

When not installing solar, Matt enjoys working on projects around his house, watching favorite baseball team (San Francisco Giants), and spending quality time with his dogs; Chief and Daisy.

Adam Walters

Adam Walters

Business Development

Adam’s first experience with solar was when he was an exchange student at Hokkaido University in Japan. During his time there he was awestruck by the solar fields that stretched as far as the eye could see. At this moment, it was decided that a career in getting the world to switch to solar will be a lifelong endeavor of his. Besides being an energy nerd, Adam is very passionate about local politics, enjoys exploring new NW breweries with friends, traveling to new places, and practicing for 2017 Halo World Championship.

Garret has a strong love for traveling abroad along with many outdoor activities such as snowboarding, wakeboarding, and camping. He is also an enthusiastic musician, spending much time playing music with friends. Next time you see Garret, ask him about his trips abroad. It won’t disappoint.

Russ Miller

Russ Miller

Project Manager

Russell’s first experience with solar electric was during a rural electrification project in Nicaragua in which he installed solar electric and solar water pumping systems in the countryside. His passion for solar is fuelled by this time spent in Nicaragua in which he witnessed firsthand the effectiveness and simplicity of solar. Russell has earned a bachelor’s degree from Oregon Tech in Renewable Energy Engineering.

Among other things, in his free time Russ enjoys spending time hiking with his companion – Ursa –  skiing the fresh mountain slopes, and volunteering to protect Cascadia’s natural beauty; like a true Northwestern mountain man. You can also find him climbing the rock walls at The Source Climbing Center in Vancouver.
